I was got a few feedback that people can not win the first battle even on the easy difficulty setting. In fact, it's very simple.
Here is small tips:
You need to only cast MudWall on youself until the girls come and join you (6-7 turns). After that, you must concentrate you attacks to one of the tentacles. You will beat the monster with no problem.
Note that the game recommends you use the earth magic at the beginning of the battle. If you lose, the game was also advises you to only defend the next time.
